Environmental Policy Department
Mission: To protect and restore fish habitat and water quality and quantity on all lands upon which tribal fisheries depend.
The Environmental Policy Department was established to provide technical advice to tribal policy makers, and to work with other technical and legal staff to formulate policy recommendations associated with the protection of habitat that is necessary to sustain and/or improve tribal fisheries resources. The department coordinates with Skagit River System Cooperative (SRSC) in regard to habitat protection and restoration efforts and insures consistency between on and off-reservation environmental policy as developed by the Swinomish Senate. The Environmental Policy Director routinely meets with industry and elected officials and governmental staff to advocate for the protection of fish habitat.
